Watch: Kanye West- Good Morning

A few months ago a super low budget snippet of Kanye West’s “Good Morning” leaked and we were able to put it up for a few days before the video was taken down. As I said back then, I loooove this video. The thing that is so fantastic about this video is how it brings to life the album artwork. The artwork was already so incredibly creative to begin with but seeing it in a video makes it that much more compelling. I can say more…but I’ll just say- enjoy.

Watch: T-Pain- Can’t Believe It featuring Lil Wayne

T-Pain has a new video for his song “Can’t Believe It” featuring Lil Wayne. This is the most creative video we’ve seen from T-Pain after 2 albums and I must say it is pretty hot. It’s like a mix of Kanye’s “Good Life” and Solange’s “Sandcastle Disco” with the whole animation of the lyrics. He also incorporates his circus theme into the video. Pairing and lively and visually captivating video with a very laid back and chill song was a great idea. I’m digging this.

Watch: Michelle Obama’s DNC Speech

Last night Michelle Obama delivered one of the most incredible speeches I have ever seen in a political forum as the headlining speaker of Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention. I have seen Michelle speak in person before so I already knew that she is a dynamic speaker…but there was something extra special about her speech last night. With all eyes on her, she rose to the occasionand showed what a phenomenal woman she is and why she would make such a wonderful and inspirational first lady. Her speech was brilliant, passionate, strong, humble, and relatable. She did an excellent job of reintroducing the country to the Obama family, reminding those of us who have been avid supporters why we adore them so much, and winning over undecideds.

I have never been more proud of being a Black woman than I was last night watching Michelle Obama speak with millions watching. She epitomizes everything that I strive for (a successful career but more importantly a loving husband and wonderful family) and she provides an uplifting image of the Black woman that counters everything else people have been taught to believe about us. She showed that strength and passion are not mutually exclusive to being loving and supportive. She is the American dream and I would be exceedingly proud to call her First Lady.

Did you watch the speech? How do you think she did? Do you think Michelle is an inspirational figure? How wonderful would it be to have a Michelle Obama as the new image of Black women in this country rather than the a$$ shaking hoochies in the music videos?

Watch: Cassie- Official Girl featuring Lil Wayne

Cassie is back with her video for “Official Girl” featuring Lil Wayne. I would be lying if I said I didn’t like the song…but the notion that she is coming harder this time around than she did with her debut album is laughable. The video is just an excuse to sell Cassie as a sex symbol and hope that nobody notices she isn’t offering much on the talent side. I’m sure the fellas will love this, but if she was looking for respect she would’ve been better off keeping her clothes on and sticking to a plot driven video.

The Dem Ticket is Set: Obama-Biden 08!

After the VP speculation reached a fever-pitch level over the past week, Sen. Barack Obama’s choice for Vice President has finally been made. Obama chose Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware to be his running mate and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. Joe Biden is a foreign policy expert, he has done amazing work in the senate leading legislation to fight crime, domestic violence, and strengthening civil rights protection. He is has a compelling and inspiration personal story and he will be an incredible asset to the Obama ticket. Yes we can! Let’s get McCain!

Watch: Ne-Yo- Miss Independent

Ne-Yo has a new video for his song “Miss Independent”. I’m totally loving this! He could have done a typical cliche video showing women shopping, driving expensive cars, and partying at the club…but instead he channelled Eddie Murphy’s “Boomerang” and choose to highlight working women. I personally appreciate that, because those of us that work hard, have a real job, and don’t make being pretty and trying to catch a baller a profession should get more love than we do. The video really lives up to the lyrics of the song by showing that women can be independent, powerful, yet sexy at the same time. Gabrielle Union, Lauren London, and Keri Hilson all looked fabulous and made the video that much hotter. I peeped a quick cameo by Trey Songz in the video too and he is looking good with his new grown man hair cut. I’m sure the ladies will love this!

What do you guys think of the video? Doesn’t this prove that you can make a hot video without relying on half naked a$$ shaking females?

Listen: Young Jeezy- My President is Black featuring Nas

Young Jeezy has a new song, “My President is Black” featuring Nas. Despite the title, the song isn’t totally political. This is a pretty typical Jeezy song with a few allusions to Obama. Nas upgrades the song, making the combo a winner. The crazy part is I could totally seeing this being a street and club anthem. The song could have more substance, but I’m still giving it a thumbs up. Click here to listen

Making the Band 4 Is Back for Season 3

Making the Band 4 returned for season 3 last night. The most exciting development of the night was the return of Lauri Ann. I didn’t expect that she would be returning to the show in episode 1, but really it was the smartest move by Diddy. Frankly Day 26is just not that interesting to watch at all. Lauri’s return brings some much added drama and flavor to the mix with all her “boom kats”. I was a little surprised though to see just how hostile (in a totally punk a$$ kind of way) they were towards Lauri. I guess they were really booty hurt by her exit. However, I think they probably realized that they were one sad bunch and her help was definitely needed.

Danity Kane didn’t get much attention during the episode and with Q being out due to tonsil surgery there were no juicy Dawn and Q moments. I never knew that getting your tonsils removed was such a drastic procedure that would prevent you from doing any kind of physical activity for weeks. But…by the end of the show Q bucked up and joined the rest of the guys for rehearsal.

Without Lauri added to the mix the episode would’ve been extremely boring, so I hope that things pick up very quickly. I have to give Lauri credit for standing her ground to Diddy and showing her fierceness. Her and Diddy’s beef squashing segment was intense, but great tv. The previews for the rest of the season look exciting though so I’m looking forward to what else is in store. It seems like DK has drifted apart recently…with none of Dawn’s band-mates showing up for her bday party and only Dawn bothering to go to the after party for the season premiere last night. I wonder if the show is going to show why it seems like the ladies aren’t close anymore or if we will be kept wondering. There were reports about a backstage scuffle with 2 members of DK, so I’m gonna be on the look out for that (even though I’m sure the reports weren’t true).

What do you guys think of the return of Making the Band? Do you think this season will be better with the Dawn and Q love story? Do you think they need to focus more on performing and leave some of the personal drama out of the show?

Listen: Kanye West and T-Pain- Go Hard

Kanye West and T-Pain have a new song called “Go Hard” (I refuse to say it’s DJ Khaled’s song simply because of his annoying yell over the track). Anyway…this is a catchy song that has that club banger anthem type feel to it. I see Kanye has no intention of dropping the voice effect yet, but is it really necessary for both Ye and T-Pain to be on a song using the voice box (or whatever it is called)? I think Kanye is just having fun right now making different songs to hold him over until his next project. No complaints from me though since this is another hot one (minus the useless DJ Khaled).
